Croissant buns – soft, tasty and super easy to make!
If your little ones already like to eat on their own, you must be looking for things in the right size and shape for their little hands to hold easily. These mini croissant buns are the perfect bread to let them eat by themselves.
Not only they are small and in a shape that is easy to hold, they are also soft and yummy so they are just perfect for your little toddlers. Once I actually had to cut a bun open and blow on it to cool it faster because my 14 months old saw me taking them out of the oven and right away asked for a bun. 😅 Okay, so he is basically addicted.
Don’t get me wrong, they are definitely not only for babies. These croissant buns are a great snack for anyone, you can dip them in sauce, slice them and spread butter, jam or cheese, and they are so pretty that they make a lovely addition to any meal.
They are super easy to make, vegan and soft in such an awesome way! Bake them once and they will immediately be your favourite buns. 😍
All you need is 6 simple ingredients which you surely already have at hand, the dough comes together in a moment and you just let it rest, make shapes and bake. Can’t get easier than that, right?

- Bowl
- Baking tray
- Baking sheet
- Spoon
- Towel
Ingredients
- 1¾ cups flour
- 1¼ tsp dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 2½ Tbsp vegetable oil
- ½ cup water
- ¾ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a bowl mix the flour, sugar and yeast.
- Add the oil and water and knead for 3 minutes to form a dough.
- Cover the bowl with a towel and let rest in a warm place for at least 30 minutes and up to 1.5 hours.
- Add salt and knead for about 3 minutes.
- Divide the dough in two, roll out each portion into a circle about 8-9" diameter. Using a pizza cutter, cut each circle into 8 slices. Roll each slice from the wide part towards the tip to make a croissant shape and put on the prepared baking tray.
- Cover the tray with a towel and let rest for 15 minutes. In the meantime heat the oven to 180C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Put the tray in the oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes. Let cool on a rack and then keep in a closed container.
